The FreeBSD Foundation has recently received investments through the Sovereign Tech Fund (STF) in the amount of 68,6400 euros. This funding is designated to improve infrastructure, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The work, financed by this investment, is scheduled to take place from August 2024 until the beginning of 2025 and will focus on five key projects:
- Improving tools and processes for organizing assembly in an unprotected environment that can be compromised, based on a zero-trust security model.
- Introducing combined means of continuous integration and continuous deployment (ci/cd) to accelerate development and reduce release cycles.
- Developing utilities and processes to reduce technical debt.
- Modernizing and expanding resources to maintain the security of applications and ports, ensuring compliance with European security legislation.
- Creating new tools and processes for considering components and dependencies used in the assembly, based on a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM).
