Chrome Releases Version 128

Google published the release of Web-browser Chrome 128. At the same time is available the stable release of the free project Chromium acting as the basis of Chrome. Chrome browser differs from Chromium by the presence of a system sending a notification in case of collapse, modules for playing DRM-protected video content, an automatic update installation system, constant inclusion of Sandbox insulation, supplying the key to Google API, and transmission when searching for RLZ parameters. For those who need more time to update, the Extended Stable branch is separately supported, accompanied by 8 weeks. The next issue of Chrome 129 is scheduled for September 17.

Main changes in 128:

  • Provided opportunity to search in the history of visits, taking into account the contents of the opened pages, and not just URLs and headlines. At this stage, the possibility is available only for English-speaking users from the USA. The functionality of the content is implemented using a machine learning system working on the Google side. Relevant data can be sent to Google servers for training and optimization, but sending can be disabled in the settings.
  • The new JSON Parser, rewritten from C++ to the Rust language, is involved, providing higher security by reducing the likelihood of errors when working with memory. The transition to a new parser may lead to the termination of the analysis of some incorrectly designed content
