QMMP 1.7 and 2.2 Musical Player Released

After a more than two-year break, QMMP has published issues of the musical player QMMP 1.7.0 and QMMP 2.2. The player includes two interfaces: “simple” and “classic”. It can be used with various operating systems like OSS4 (FreeBSD), ALSA (Linux), Pulse Audio, Jack, Qtmultimedia, Icecast, Waveut (Win32), Directsound (Win32), and Wasapi (Win32). The code is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLv2 license. Ready-made packages have been formed for Ubuntu. Additionally, plugins that are not included in the main composition, such as QMMP Plugin Pack 1.7.0 and 2.2.0, have also been formed.

Among the changes in the latest versions:

  • Improved grouping mode
  • Playback list container
  • Transfer of duplicate code to the Libqmpui library
  • Firing messages disabled by default
  • Improved settings of colors and fonts
  • Implementation of tree-like viewing mode of files, copying tracks between playlists, and adjusting the balance in the simple user interface
  • New settings added to the XMP module
  • Possibility to set the size of the buffer in microseconds in the HTTP module
  • Addition of the ability to replace the selected playlist in the music library module
  • Optimization of the code base
  • Improved determination of file type according to contents
  • Fix for an issue with large Cue files
  • Assembly now established for FreeBSD
  • Updated interface translations, including Russian translation

It is reported that QMMP 1.7 is the last significant update with support for the QT5 library. Future developments will only be in the QT6 line, while QT5-based branch will receive only corrective updates.
