Antix 23.2 and MX Linux 23.4 Lightweight Releases

Antix Linux has recently released the new lightweight Live-display Antix 23.2. This version is built on the DEBIAN package base and is specifically aimed at installing on outdated equipment. The release is based on the DEBIAN 12 package base but does not include the Systemd system manager. Instead, it features EuDEV in place of UDEV. Users can choose between Runit or Sysvinit for initialization. The default user environment is created using the IceWM window manager, and supplies also include Fluxbox, JWM, and Herbstluftwm. The ISO images come in four sizes: 2.1 GB (complete), 1.2 GB (base), 564 MB (without graphics), and 249 MB (network installation). These images are prepared for both x86_64 and i386 architectures.

In this latest release, Antix Linux has synchronized with the DEBIAN 12 (BOOKWORM) package base. The full assembly includes the Linux 6.1.105 kernel, while other assemblies have the 5.10.224 kernel. Various applications have been updated, including Libreoffice 24.8.2, Firefox 128.3.0esr, and Seamonkey 2.53.19.1. The SMTube application, which was used for viewing YouTube, has been discontinued.
