The release of the specialized distribution Tails 6.8, also known as The Amnesic Incognito Live System, has been announced. This new version is based on the Debian 12 package base and comes with the GNOME 43 desktop, specifically designed for anonymous network access. Tails ensures anonymous browsing through the Tor system, blocking all connections except for traffic via the Tor network. User data is encrypted for storage between sessions.
Tails 6.8 marks the first release since the distribution transitioned under the Tor project. The ISO image for live-mode operation is available for download, requiring 1 GB of storage.
In this new version, several updates have been implemented:
- An error dialogue is now displayed when attempting to unlock the Persistent Storage, offering options to restore FSC integrity or create a backup. Detailed documentation is available to address issues in the Federal Customs Fund and recover data from the Failure section.
- Improved notifications are shown when disconnecting the network interface due to difficulties in setting a fake Mac address.
- The Tor browser has been updated to version 13.5.6. For more information, visit torwser 13.5.6.
