The NetworkManager project has released a stable interface version, NetworkManager 1.50.0, aimed at simplifying the setup of network parameters. Various plugins supporting VPN services like Libreswan, OpenConnect, Openswan, SSTP, etc. are developing as part of their independent development cycles.
The main innovations introduced in NetworkManager 1.50 include:
- Declared outdated and disabled support for the utility “dhclient“, recommending the use of the built-in DHCP client, which has been the default since NetworkManager 1.20.
- Implemented the ability to search for and specify system network interfaces OVS (Open vswitch) by their MAC address.
- Added support for configuring the tie of the connection of the connection.
- Support for configuring network interfaces of virtual Ethernet devices (Veth).
- Enabled recording the contents of /etc/hosts when determining the host name from the reverse zone in DNS.
- In the IP6-Privacy configuration parameter, the use of Sysctl IPV6.confault.default has been reinstated to modify core settings.
- Added support for using multiple gateways for one network to NDISC.
- For wireless configurations in access mode, support for channel-width has been added.
- Code has been included to prevent the inclusion of Keyfile outdoor tired settings with conflicting terms like Master, Slave, and Blacklist.
- An error causing emergency shutdowns when processing specially designed LLDP packets with the turnover mode on has been fixed.
