The latest release of Phosh 0.42, a screen shell for mobile devices based on GNOME technology and GTK library, has been published. Originally developed by Purism as an analogue of Gnome Shell for the Librem 5 smartphone, Phosh is now one of the unofficial GNOME projects used in Postmarketos, Mobian, Droidian, some firmware for Pine64 devices, and Fedora editors for smartphones. Phosh utilizes the composite server “phoc” working on top of Wayland, along with its own screen keyboard. The projects are distributed under the license GPLv3+.
In the new issue of Phosh 0.42, the following updates have been implemented:
- Adaptation of the lock screen for smaller screens.
- Added setting in the plugin informing about upcoming events, allowing customization with the number of days.
- In the “Flashlight” application, the sliders for adjusting brightness are now hidden on devices with one level of LED glow.
- Improved notification handling for multiple notifications from one application.
- The screen keyboard Squeekboard now includes a layout for the Belarusian language. The panel height is now adaptive to various screens, with adjustments for horizontal and vertical orientation. Added the ability to adjust panel height through Gsettings.
- Updated dependencies include Wlroots 0.17.4, Gnome 47, Calls 47.0, FeedBackd 0.5.0, Feedbackd-Device-Themes 0.4.0, Callaudiod 0.1.10, Wys 0.1.12, and MMSD-TNG 2.6.1.
