Chrome 129 Web Browser Released

Google published the release of Web browser Chrome 129. At the same time a stable release of the free project Chromium is available, acting as the basis of Chrome. Chrome browser differs from Chromium by using the logos OGLE, having a system for sending notifications in case of a crash, modules for playing DRM-protected video content, an automatic update installation system, constant inclusion of Sandbox isolation, providing the Google API key, and sending RLZ parameters when searching. For those needing more time to update, the Extended Stable branch is supported for up to 8 weeks. The next issue of Chrome 130 is scheduled for October 15.

Basic Changes in 129:

  • Added the ability to customize the toolbar content, allowing users to fix, unpin, and rearrange icons using a configurator in the side panel. For instance, buttons for accessing the developer interface, clearing browsing history, opening reading mode, navigating to the task manager, accessing the password manager, etc. can be placed. A new parameter “Chrome://Flags/#Toolbar-Pinning” has been added to control icon consolidation.
  • A tab comparison feature using machine learning elements to provide a comparative review of goods or pages open in different tabs has been introduced, currently available only for users in the USA.
  • In the Android version, an option to move inactive tabs to a separate section (Inactive Tabs) in the interface between tabs has been implemented. Users can view all old tabs before closing them at once. Tabs in the Inactive Tabs section are automatically removed after 60 days. This feature is currently activated for 1% of users.
