The latest beta releases for various Ubuntu flavors have been announced, including Lubuntu, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Studio, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Unity, Edubuntu, and Ubuntu Cinnamon.
The main changes include:
- The desktop has been updated prior to the GNOME 47 release, featuring new dialogue windows, enhanced performance on low-screen systems, hardware acceleration for video encoding during screenshot recording, and revamped file opening dialogs. Additional patches have been added to GNOME Shell and Mutter for stability improvements and performance optimization. Program visualization for SNAP packages and better PWA installation processing for Chrome using the Chromium browser have also been included.
- Systems with NVIDIA graphics cards now utilize the GNOME session based on Wayland. Users can opt for the previously available X-server session by selecting “Ubuntu On Xorg” in the system’s login manager.
