The latest version of the specialized distribution Tails 6.10, known as The Amnesic Incognito Live System, has been presented by the Tails project. This distribution is based on the DEBIAN 12 package base and features the GNOME 43 desktop environment. It is specifically designed for anonymous internet usage through Tor tools, with all connections other than those via the Tor network being blocked by default.
User data is encrypted for storage between sessions, ensuring privacy and security. The ISO-image for Tails 6.10, which can be used in live mode, is available for download and is 1 GB in size.
In this new version, updates have been made to the Tor Browser, which is now at version 14.0.3, and the mail client Thunderbird, which has been upgraded to version 128.4.3 from the previous 115.x branch. Thunderbird now disables the collection of telemetry data for user privacy.
Additionally, the Electrum Bitcoin client in Tails 6.10 now supports hardware cryptocurrency wallets such as Trezor. Issues related to launching the desktop environment with limited RAM have also been resolved in this latest release of Tails.
