Distributions of the Arch Linux have announced the receipt of an investment totaling 562 thousand euros from the Sovereign Tech Fund (stf), a fund established in Germany to support the development of open digital infrastructure and ecosystems with open source. The fund, funded by the German Climate Protection Ministry, is overseen by the Federal Agency for Innovative Development. The funds will be used to modernize Arch Linux package management tools, develop specifications, utilities, and libraries to improve package creation, usage, and repository management.
Part of the ALPM project includes restructuring interfaces related to package management and providing utilities and libraries written in the programming language RUST.
