The developers of Haiku OS have recently announced the release of the first public port of the browser Mozilla Firefox. As part of the preparation for this port, various changes were made to the base system and other ports used, including modifications to the Wayland layer for Haiku by developer X512.
However, due to the lack of response from Mozilla regarding the use of its trademarks, the browser will be provided under the alternative name Iceweasel, previously chosen by the GNU project for its Firefox fork.
The decision to release the port to the public was made in order to facilitate testing, media coverage, and JIT support. It is important to note that this port is still experimental and may have some issues, such as graphic artifacts caused by the Wayland layer and lack of support for certain features like WebRTC.
