Systemd 257 Released

After six months of development announced the release of the system manager systemd 257. The key changes include the introduction of new Systemd-Sbsign and Systemd-Keyutil utilities, MPTCP support for a socket, initial support for the MUSL SI) assembly, UPDATECTL utility for managing updates through SystemD-Sysupdate, the ability to start services in a separate PID Namespace, and protection against random file deletion when using “Systemd-TMPFILES –PURGE”.

Among the changes in the new release:

  • Added a new utility Systemd-sbsign to certify executable files in PE (Portable Executable) format for use in EFI Secure Boot mode. Systemd-Sbsign uses engines and providers from the OpenSSL library to create signatures, and can be an alternative to SBSIGNTOOL and PESIGN applications in the ukify utility for creating universal Research Institute Images of the UKI core.
  • Introduced a new utility Systemd-Keyutil for various operations on closed keys and X.509 certificates. This utility can be used to verify the loading of closed keys and certificates, as well as extract open keys in PEM format.
  • In the unit file “.socket” for managing socket activation, added support for MPTCP (Multipath TCP) to enable TCP connections to use multiple routes via different network interfaces and IP addresses.
  • Updates include changes necessary for assembly using the standard SIBLITETREE MUSL.
  • Various Systemd components now support using ANSI escape codes to animate progress displays. Similar sequences are maintained as seen
