Ubisoft Fixes Windows 11 Update Issues for Gamers

Microsoft has lifted the Windows 11 24H2 update block on devices running games such as Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora after Ubisoft released temporary fixes. The update had been previously restricted due to numerous complaints from users experiencing crashes, freezes, and audio issues while playing these games.

Complaints flooded platforms like Reddit, Microsoft forums, and the Windows Insider preview center, with users reporting immediate game crashes or freezes shortly after launch. In an effort to protect a larger user base, Microsoft had implemented the update restriction.

Following the swift release of patches by Ubisoft, Microsoft was able to remove the update block for some users. However, performance issues may still persist on certain devices. Microsoft advises users not to manually update their systems until the situation is completely resolved.

Meanwhile, Windows users faced another setback with a lock related to the outdated version of Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook. Users reported errors when trying to launch the program, accompanied by a message stating, “Cannot open the Outlook window.”

To resolve this issue, Microsoft suggests updating Google Workspace Sync to version 4.3.68.0. However, after updating to Windows 11 24H2, it becomes impossible to delete or reinstall this utility.

Furthermore, the Windows 11 24H2 update blocks also impact devices with outdated Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers, as well as some USB scanners, integrated cameras, and other incompatible components.

Therefore, despite the partial resolution of issues with UBISoft games, users are urged to carefully check the compatibility of their devices and applications before proceeding with system updates. It is advisable to refrain from updating if not absolutely necessary.
