In a recent warning issued by the Control against Cybercrift of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, iPhone users are being targeted by a new fraud scheme. The attackers are posing as helpers in the restoration of remote applications, such as banking apps or Tiktok, in order to deceive unsuspecting victims.
The fraudulent scheme operates by convincing the victims to access the attacker’s Apple ID under the guise of being the only way to recover the desired application. Once the victim enters the specified account, their iPhone is immediately blocked. Subsequently, the cybercriminals demand a substantial sum of money in exchange for unlocking the device.
To prevent falling victim to such scams, the Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly advises against entering anyone else’s data into an Apple ID. This precaution can safeguard iPhone users from falling into the trap laid out by these malicious attackers.
