Chinese hackers gained access to the IT infrastructure of critical objects in the United States, pose a threat to potential conflict, reported US Cyber Cycling, Morgan Adamski. At the conference cyberwarcon Adamsky noted that Chinese operations are aimed at obtaining a strategic advantage in case of serious confrontation with the United States.
Adamsky said that hackers from China hacked the IT systems and prepare the ground for possible destructive attacks. Among the goals – manipulations of management systems, such as heating, ventilation and conditioning of server premises, as well as energy and water bodies.
US Senator Mark Warner emphasized the scale of cyber attacks aimed at telecommunications. Warner called it the largest in the history of the United States in this area. The Salt Typhoon campaign included stealing data on phone calls, intercepting the communications of high -ranking persons from both presidential campaigns before the election on November 5, as well as receiving telecommunication information related to law enforcement requests.
The FBI reported that together with CISA it provides technical support and information to potential purposes. In addition, the United States coordinates global actions aimed at counteracting the cyber operations of China. Among the measures are the disclosure of information about attacks, sanctions, criminal cases, law enforcement agencies and the publication of recommendations for cybersecurity with the participation of international partners.
Beijing repeatedly denied involvement in cyber attacks on American objects. The Chinese Embassy in Washington has not yet commented on the situation.
Earlier, officials have already expressed concern about Chinese hackers and recommended that the administrators of networks and security teams be on their guard and monitor suspicious activity, especially the use of legitimate tools for malicious actions.
