The US Department of Justice has charged the administrators of the illegal sports streaming site 247TVStream. The brothers are facing several charges related to the operation of the 247TVStream platform, which provided subscribers with access to illegal sports broadcasts and television shows for $10 per month. It is alleged that the administrators earned over $7 million during the site’s operation from May 2017 to November 2024.
One of the brothers, 56-year-old Nabi Nabi Chuudkhuri from the United States, has been arrested, while his brother, 36-year-old Mohammad Rahman from Bangladesh, is currently on the run. The charges against them include creating an illegal digital broadcasting service, conspiracy for fraud, and theft of personal data. The maximum penalty for these charges could be up to 28 years in prison.
According to investigations, ChOUDHURI and Rahman purchased legitimate accounts to access broadcasts, which they then resold to users of the platform. The copyright holders allegedly suffered losses exceeding $100 million due to the actions of the accused, while the criminals themselves earned over $7 million in subscription payments for 247TVStream.
Following the charges, the 247TVStream site has been shut down and its domain names seized. With the cooperation of authorities from the Netherlands and Great Britain, American agencies were able to disable the servers that supported the platform. The site now displays a banner acknowledging the law enforcement actions.
The indictment also lists 5 streaming platforms that were impacted by the illegal activities. In recent years, content providers and sports leagues have been working closely with the US Department of Justice to combat illegal streaming services. Earlier this year, the Justice Department charged five operators of another streaming service, Jetflicks.
