Wine 9.22 Debuts Default Wayland Driver

Published: The experimental release of open implementation Win32 API – Wine 9.22. Since the release of version 9.21, 19 error reports have been closed and 313 changes have been implemented.

The most important changes include:

  • In the default configuration, the Winewayland.drv driver is activated, enabling the use of Wine environments based on the Wayland protocol without the need for XWayland and X11 components.
  • Support for virtualization of screen modes, allowing emulation of resolution changes and screen update operations.
  • In the directplay API, implementation of support for Network sessions.
  • Data Locale updated to the unicode cladr (unicode common locale data repository) version 46.
  • Fixed the application of Locale settings that were previously ignored in certain situations.
  • Resolved an issue where input events would stop being transmitted after losing and regaining focus on a window in Virtual desktop.
  • Closed errors related to various applications including Steam, MS Office 2007, MS Office 2013, Cygwin, Musicbee, DDDICATEDSERVER.EXE, Labone 24.04, CMD.exe, Heidisql 7.0, FL Studio, Windows Movie Maker.
  • Closed errors related to the performance of games such as Dark Souls: Remastered and World of Warcraft.
