Virgin Media O2 presented of the new Assistant in the fight against fraudsters – artificial intelligence “Daisy”, imitating an elderly woman and capable of talking with scammers in real time. AI looks and says as a grandmother who spends the time of criminals so that they cannot harm real customers.
Daisy is trained using modern methods and videos of popular fighters with scammers. The main task of Daisy is to distract scammers so that they spend time on useless conversations. AI uses several models to instantly understand speech and respond to it. The answers sound so realistic that AI can detain the attackers on the line up to 40 minutes.
The artificial intelligence of Daisy has already managed to hit the scammers, taking their conversations to the side and telling stories about knitting, about the family or even providing invented banking data. This helps to avoid real attacks on customers. For the operation of the system, a special language model is used, supplemented by personal character traits, and then the answers are translated into a voice using a model of speech synthesis.
The Star of the Amy Hart reality show joined the project, who herself became a victim of scammers and decided to help others avoid such situations. Hart shot a video from Daisy to show how scammers are trying to deceive people.
The project has become part of the campaign swerve the scammers from Virgin Media O2. This is a response to research, which showed that 71% of the British would like to resist fraudsters, but 53% are not ready to spend their time on it. Therefore, now “scambling” instead of people is engaged in AI.
Virgin Media O2 also suggested that the government create a single center to combat fraud, as the problem continues to grow. Almost 69% of the British have already encountered attempts at fraudsters. Last year, the operator prevented fraud worth more than 250 million pounds, and also blocked 89 million suspicious texts thanks to customer complaints.
