Company Beta Technologies has successfully completed the release of the first electric aircraft on a full-scale production line in Vermont. The production site, which opened in October 2023, has become the first in the United States to be certified for mass production of electric aircraft, with a capacity of up to 300 units per year.
The flagship model CX300, presented on this line, is an electric plane with traditional take-off and landing, distinguishing itself from the Models A250 which are capable of vertical take-off. The CX300 has already completed over 22,000 hours of flights during certification tests. Recently, it received a certificate of airworthiness for experimental research from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Beta Technologies aims to complete certification by 2025.
The organization of a streamlined production chain, implementation of checkpoints, and installation of equipment at the facility have been crucial in Beta’s achievements over the past year. The company has progressed from completing the construction of an 18,580 square meter area to the production of the first aircraft and its successful test flights.
An important milestone in Beta’s development journey was the successful completion of Series C funding round, in which the company raised $318 million. These funds will play a key role in accelerating the commercialization of electric aviation and the production of aircraft for initial customers.
Beta Technologies is a prominent player in the electric aviation sector. The company had secured the second position in the ranking of promising electric powerplant manufacturers back in 2021, according to analysis conducted by SMG Consulting. The recent accomplishments of Beta further validate this assessment and underscore significant progress towards a sustainable future in aviation.
