Merck Unveils Digital Goods Passport for Protection

German scientific and technological company Merck recently made an announcement regarding the launch of Beta versions of their platform, m-trust, which is designed to address issues related to the authenticity of goods, their traceability, and the fight against counterfeit products.

The platform enables the creation of digital replicas of physical products, aiming to make it more difficult for counterfeit goods to circulate. This technology relies on crypto-tackers (Crypto-anchors) – unique digital identifiers that link physical items with corresponding records in the blockchain. These anchors serve to verify authenticity and streamline tracking of goods throughout the supply chain.

The unveiling of the platform for duplicating physical goods in the blockchain realm, known as m-trust, signifies a significant step forward in enhancing product verification and tracking.

Additionally, the platform incorporates automation of quality control processes, which is anticipated to reduce errors in machine interactions. It also captures and retains data on goods, facilitating product authentication within the system.

Furthermore, m-trust utilizes smart contracts – immutable digital agreements on the blockchain that automate processes and validate information. While the platform is tailored for corporate use, it is presently only accessible in a testing phase, with no mention of an individual version for consumers at this time.
