Microsoft Launches Global Windows 11 Upgrade

Microsoft Announces Windows 11 Promotions for 2025

Microsoft continues to actively promote Windows 11, declaring 2025 as the “Year of PC update” and marking the end of Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Yusuf Mehdi, the head of Microsoft Consumer products, highlighted the OS’s advanced artificial intelligence functions and improved security in a blog post on the eve of CES 2025.

Emphasizing the timeliness of Windows 11’s launch, Mehdi mentioned that the new features align with user expectations for 2025 and beyond. However, with the impending conclusion of Windows 10 support, users face a more compelled rather than voluntary transition to the new operating system.

Despite Microsoft’s efforts, Windows 11 struggles with low acceptance rates. Statcounter reports that over 60% of computers continue to operate on Windows 10. Even new devices featuring Windows 11 often revert to the older OS due to its stability and compatibility, according to analysts.

Microsoft is actively promoting AI functions on new computers equipped with Copilot+. However, devices with local AIs receive criticism for underperformance, particularly in gaming. Nevertheless, the company plans to maintain high hardware requirements for Windows 11, potentially rendering many older devices obsolete next year.
