The latest version of Scribus 1.6.3 has been released, offering a free package for professional layout of printed materials. The software includes tools for generating PDF documents and supports work with separate color profiles, CMYK, and ICC. Scribus 1.6.3 is developed using Tulkit Qt and is distributed under the GPLV2+ license. Ready-made binary assemblies are available for Linux (Appimage), MacOS, and Windows, and can be downloaded here.
This updated version of Scribus enhances images using the CMYK color model and introduces new functions for automation scripts, including conversion of units of measurement and text stylization. It also features improved settings for exporting image quality. Various bugs in the graphic interface have been fixed, addressing issues with opening and generating PDF files, shortcuts, external drives detection, image update function, and error handling for changes. Additionally, support for new versions of the poppler library has been added.
Meanwhile, development continues on the experimental branch of Scribus 1.7, focusing on porting to QT 6. This version includes the transfer of icons to SVG format, a new palette implementation, and a system of fixed panels.
