Deecibels Player Joins Main GNOME Composition

Developers of the Gnome accepted the minimalistic musical player Decibels in the main composition of the GNOME desktop.
Decibels will be part of the spring release of Gnome 48 and will be proposed in it under the name “Audio Player”. Last year, the player has already been accepted into the main composition of the Endless OS distribution, and is also delivered by default in the Gnome distribution of the distribution for Postmarketos smartphones. The Decibels code is written in the Typescript language using the JavaScript volume over Libadwaita, Gio, Gobject and GTK4, and distributes under licensed 3+. Ready packages are format in format flatpak.

The program, named Decibels, features a very simple interface optimized for playing individual sound files. When trying to open sound files in other applications, such as a file manager or mail client, Decibels offers a user-friendly experience. The interface includes a visual representation of the sound wave, a slider for quick position changes, playback speed controls, volume adjustment, and buttons for quick 5 and 10-second rewinding. Dark and bright design modes are supported, along with interface adaptation for small smartphone screens.
