A major disruption in the operations of Russian telecommunication providers has severely impacted users in Moscow and the Moscow Region, irrespective of their service provider. Customers have been facing issues with Internet connectivity and mobile applications.
Users have reported malfunctions in mobile applications and interruptions in Internet services across multiple mobile operators. Popular websites such as Google, LiveInternet, Wikipedia, Russian Railways, and others are inaccessible to Russian users. Moreover, monitoring sites like Siber.rf and Downdetector, which track communication problems, are also not accessible. Complaints have surfaced regarding difficulties in booking taxis and completing car-sharing trips.
Banking applications have also been affected by the disruption, failing to function properly even when using mobile Internet connections. Users have encountered issues while using the Outlook mail service as well.
Interestingly, users located outside of Russia have not experienced any interruptions and report smooth loading of all pages and services. The Russian internet regulatory agency, Roskomnadzor, has stated that they are unaware of the reasons behind this internet outage in Russia.
