Developers of the Fedora have announced a plan to introduce a new assembly featuring the KDE desktop environment, alongside the existing GNOME-based Fedora Workstation. The proposal was approved by the management council of the Fedora project, and will now be reviewed by the FESCO Committee responsible for technical aspects of distribution development.
The Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Edition will be treated as a primary edition, receiving equal support and marketing as the GNOME-based version. Any critical issues affecting KDE will be considered release blockers, similar to how issues with GNOME have been handled in the past.
