The Ministry of Industry and Trade, acting on behalf of the President, is leading the development of the console. Alongside the Elbrus processor, other electronic components of Russian origin will be integrated into the device. The operating system of the console is expected to be either Aurora or Alt Linux, both domestic developments.
The Skolkovo Foundation has been tasked with creating a business model and defining the competitive advantages of the upcoming Russian game console.
Gorelykin emphasized the importance of approaching the project with innovation, stating that the Elbrus processors are currently not on par with those of competitors such as the PS5 and Xbox. He expressed the need for a unique approach to ensure the success of the Russian console.
The goal of the Russian console is not simply to port existing games or fulfill a presidential order. Gorelykin stressed that the platform should focus on promoting and popularizing domestic video games, reaching a wider audience beyond traditional gaming platforms like personal computers and mobile devices.
