Kali Linux 2024.4 Safety Research Release

Kali Linux 2024.4 has been released, a distribution based on the Debian package base designed for vulnerability testing, safety audits, residual information analysis, and identifying attack consequences. All original developments for the distribution are distributed under the GPL license and are available through the public git-re posal . The ISO images for download are available in sizes 600 MB and 4.1 GB, with assemblies for architectures including X86_64, ARM (ARMHF and ARMEL, RASPBERRY PI, Banana Pi, ARM Chromebook, Odroid), and choice of desktop environments such as XFCE, KDE, and GNOME.

Kali Linux offers a variety of tools for computer security specialists, covering areas from testing web applications and penetrating wireless networks to reading data from RFID chips. The toolkit encompasses a collection of exploits and around 400 specialized utilities for safety checks, including Aircrack, Maltego, Saint, Kismet, Bluebugger, BTCRACK, BTSCANNER, NMAP, and P0F. Additionally, the distribution features tools for accelerating passwords (Multihash Cuda Brute Forcer) and WPA keys (Pyrit), utilizing NVIDIA and AMD GPUs for acceleration.

In the latest release of Kali Linux 2024.4:

  • Assemblies and packages of the Linux kernel for i386 architecture have been discontinued, while the repository maintains packet supplies for i386 architecture for running 32-bit programs in a 64-bit environment.
  • Python 3.12 is now involved by default.
  • SSH client supports keys based on the DSA algorithm, with plans to remove DSA support code from Openssh in the near future. For connecting to older servers, a separate SSH1 package based on Openssh 7.5 is available to continue supporting SSH1 protocol.
  • System image setup for Raspberry Pi boards can now be done using the utility raspberry pi imger , enabling tasks like adding users, configuring time zone, copying SSH keys, activating SSH service, and setting up wireless network connections.
  • The GNOME desktop environment has been updated to version 47, featuring a new design theme for the system login screen.
  • A new system monitoring applet has been added for monitoring the system’s status.
