Miracle-WM 0.4: Wayland, MIR Composite Manager Released

Matthew Kosarek from Canonical published the release of the composite manager miracle-wm 0.4 using the Wayland protocol and components for building composite managers Mir. Miracle-WM supports the mosaic (tiling) layout of windows in the style of projects i3 and SWAY. As a panel, waybar can be used. The project code is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLV3 license. Ready assemblies are available in format snap, as well as in RPM and DEB packages for Fedora and Ubuntu.

Miracle-Wm aims to create a composite server that uses mosaic windows control, more functional and stylish than products like swayfx. The project allows users to work with floating windows as well, such as placing individual windows over the mosaic grid or fixing windows in specific places on the desktop. Virtual desktops are supported with customizable default windows for each desktop (mosaic layout or floating windows).

It is expected that Miracle-WM will benefit users who prefer a mosaic layout but desire visual effects and a more appealing graphic design with smooth transitions and colors. Configuration is done in the format of yaml. To install Miracle-WM, use the command “SUDO SNAP Install Miracle-WM-Classic”.
