KDE Gear 24.12 Released: New App Suite Available

After four months of development, KDE Gear 24.12 was presented in December by the KDE project. The release includes over 250 programs, libraries, and plugins. The most noticeable changes include:

  • In the document viewer Okular, the certification of documents has been simplified through digital signatures, improved print output quality, and added support for additional types of fields in PDF files with input forms.

  • The application Kleopatra, which manages certificates and cryptographic operations, now includes a dialogue for creating digital signatures and data encryption. The NOTEPAD interface for encryption, decryption, and text verification has been modernized with a side panel displaying recipient parameters in the built-in text editor.

  • The app Merkuro (formerly Kalendar), which combines task management and calendar features, now displays OpenPGP and S/MIME certificates
