Rostelecom Outage Hits Multiple Regions’ Communication

On January 31, 2025 at 10:45 Moscow time, Roskomnadzor has reported a significant surge in complaints from Rostelecom subscribers regarding service failures. The preliminary cause of these issues is believed to be a failure within the company’s infrastructure.

According to the Downdetector service, the majority of complaints originated from various regions including the Chuvash Republic (13%), the Nizhny Novgorod region (8%), the Murmansk region (7%), the Ulyanovsk region (6%), and the Udmurt Republic (3%). Users have specifically highlighted difficulties in accessing their home Internet services.

Rostelecom’s press service addressed the situation in Chuvashia, acknowledging a brief emergency incident on their data transfer network. This disruption resulted in potential challenges for subscribers’ Internet access lasting between 15-20 minutes. The company reassured that this particular failure was limited to the affected region and did not impact other areas.
