Edge 133 Secures AI Protector Code Shield

Microsoft is globally deploying Edge 133 browser, which has received several improvements, including a new function that blocks malware (source).

The Scareware Scam fraud scheme involves using pop-up windows and alarming messages to deceive victims into believing their device is at risk and requires urgent specialist intervention. Attackers then manipulate victims into calling a fake support service, allowing them to gain remote access to the victim’s computer and install malicious software. The new Edge function analyzes web pages in real time to identify signs of such threats.

The protection system of Edge is powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning. This function utilizes computer vision technologies to compare web page contents with a database of known fraudulent schemes. Importantly, all processing is done locally without any data transfer to the cloud. Users can enable this protection in the browser settings.

To test the new fraud prevention feature, users must update their Edge browser to version 133 via the program settings. To activate the feature, users should navigate to settings, then privacy, search, and services, and finally safety to enable the fake blocking cloak against antiviruses.
