KDE Plasma 6.3 Operating Table Released

After four months of development, the release of the desktop KDE Plasma 6.3 has been announced. To evaluate the new features, users can utilize assemblies from projects such as KDE Neon and OpenSuse (Argon, based on OpenSuse LEAP, and Krypton based on OpenSuse Tumbleweed).

The main changes in KDE Plasma 6.3 include:

  • In the composite manager of Kwin, support for fractional scaling has been optimized to ensure clarity and reduced blur with an increase in scale. A reference to the pixel grid of the screen is now provided.
  • The zoom effect has been modernized to show a grid for visual separation of individual pixels when there is a significant change in scale.

  • Improved color display accuracy in the night backlight, regardless of the use of ICC profiles. A new parameter in Kwin allows users to configure color accuracy, with a high level potentially impacting system performance.
  • Enabled light transparency for widgets on the desktop and for pop-up windows of panel elements.
