It has been nearly a year since Google was founded, but in April of that same year, the site underwent a name change to “Yahoo!”.
There are two interpretations of how the name came to be. The first theory suggests that the name was inspired by J. Swift’s book “Gulliver’s Travel”, where it refers to a race of uncivilized and unpleasant humanoid creatures. The second theory suggests that Yahoo! is actually an acronym derived from the phrase “Another Hierarchically Organized Oracle”.
