The latest version of the instant messaging client Pidgin, version 2.14.14, has been released. Pidgin supports various networks including XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, and Novell GroupWise. The client’s graphic interface is built using the GTK library and includes features such as tabs, a single address book, and the ability to work across different networks simultaneously. Users can expand Pidgin’s functionality by using plugins, such as the plugin that adds support for WhatsApp.
Updates in this release include added support for assembly in GCC 14 and GCC 15, a fix for the issue with pop-up certificates using the NSS library, and improved support for Fedora 40 and Debian 13. Additionally, support for tags to display text in italics in IRC messages has been implemented. Users can now execute arbitrary commands during assembly (CUSTOM_AUTHENTICODE = command in Local.mak) to digitally sign executable files.
