Oracle has announced the release of a new distribution called UEK-Next, which is now available for download without any restrictions. This preliminary release includes a core Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel NEXT (UEK-Next) that is based on the Linux 6.12 nucleus and optimized for use with Oracle software and hardware. The UEK-Next is in addition to the packet that includes the nucleus from the RHEL, which is based on the 6.11 nucleus. Users can access the source code of the nucleus, along with separate patches, on the public git-reacle on GitHub.
The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel core is set as the default installation and is presented as an alternative to the RHEL Nuclear Nuclear Packet. It offers advanced features such as DTRACE integration, improved BTRFS support, and optimization for Oracle products compatibility. The preliminary releases of Oracle Linux 10 and RHEL 10 are functionally identical, providing users with all the capabilities they need for their Oracle-related projects.
