Update VirtualBox 7.1.6

Oracle has released a corrective update for the virtualization system VirtualBox 7.1.6, which includes 9 changes. Additionally, an update for the previous version, VIRTUALBOX 7.0.24, has been provided with 15 corrections.

The new versions address two vulnerabilities, with a maximum risk level of 7.3 out of 10, which could allow a local user to escalate their privileges.

  • Guest systems running Linux now have initial support for kernel 6.13, along with additional patches for kernels 6.4 and 6.12 to address graphics issues in the Vboxvideo driver.
  • Support for a core package from RHEL 9.6 distribution has been added for hosts and guest systems with Linux, along with corrections to eliminate UBSAN warnings (Undefined Behavior Sanitizer).
  • A new guest system type has been added to support Windows Server 2025.
  • Issues causing “blue screen of death” when launching Windows 11 24H2 in the guest system have been resolved in the virtual machine manager.
  • Improvements have been made to the user interface dialog box for extended settings, visibility of settings using certain themes in Linux, and the configurator now allows changing the bridge adapter when starting a virtual machine. Accessibility issues with the 3D slip switch for some guest systems and graphics adapters have also been fixed.
  • Issues with Virtionet settings after reset have been addressed, as well as screen flickering problems in guest systems with Linux using the VMSVGA graphics adapter.
  • Support for import and export of virtual machines using the NVME controller has been added to Vboxmanage.
  • Driver installation for hosts and guest systems with Windows has been revamped.
