In a recent development, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation has labeled Canadian company Opentext Corporation as an undesirable organization. The decision was made due to the company’s close cooperation with US power structures and its alleged involvement in the propaganda campaign against Russia.
The prosecutor’s office stated that Opentext Corporation, based in Waterloo and founded in 1991, is a contractor for the US Department of Defense. The company supplies software to the Pentagon for analyzing and identifying users of computer networks.
Opentext Corporation is known for its specialization in developing and providing software for corporate information, known as Enterprise Information Management (EIM). Some of the company’s prominent customers include L’OREAL, Heineken, Vodafone, RBC Bank, and others. In response to the recent events, Opentext Corporation announced in March 2022 that it has ceased its operations in Russia.
