Android Auto-Reboots After 3 Days of Inactivity

Google has implemented an update in its services, specifically in Google Play 25.14. The update includes a new feature that allows for the automatic restarting of smartphones after 3 days of inactivity, specifically when there is a lack of facial unlocking. Users can activate this function in the settings by enabling the appropriate option. The Google Play 25.14 update is set to be rolled out to users next week.

Previously, the automatic reboot function was introduced in the Grapheneos Android platform. This feature is utilized to reset decrypted sections with user data back to their original non-distributed state. After the device restarts, the user profile is encrypted and can only be deciphered once the user enters the entry password. It is believed that this automatic reboot will enhance security by safeguarding against attacks on memory content analysis and vulnerabilities that may allow bypassing the screen lock.

Additionally, it is worth noting that corrections for vulnerabilities on the Android 12 platform, released in 2021, are no longer being published. The April report only mentions releases for Android 13, 14, and 15, indicating a shift in focus towards newer versions of the Android operating system.

Furthermore, there has been an increase in system requirements starting with Android 15, as reported. The minimum flash memory storage requirement for Android 15 has been raised from 16 to 32 GB, with 75% of the storage allocated under the data section. Additionally, smartphones supporting Android 15 must have hardware that is compatible with Graphic API VULKAN 1.3. Failure to meet these requirements will result in manufacturers of Android devices being unable to obtain Google certification for using Android 15.
