Oracle published a corrective release of the virtualization system Virtualbox 7.1.8, which included 27 changes. Simultaneously, an update was released for the last branch Virtualbox 7.0.26 with 21 corrections. Along with the changes in the new versions, 3 vulnerabilities with a maximum hazard level of 10 were also resolved, although details have not been disclosed.
In the new releases, the following changes were made:
- For guest systems with Linux:
- Initial support for the Linux 6.14 kernel and a package with a core from the future release of Rhel 9.6 were implemented. Improved Linux kernel support from RHEL 9.4.
- An error causing the abrupt termination of Vboxclient when using Xwayland was fixed.
- A display cursor issue with Vboxvga graphics adapter in virtual machines was resolved.
- A flaw that caused Virtualbox additions to be installed on systems without x11 libraries was fixed.
- Improved verification ‘Rcvboxadd Status-Kernel’.
- An installer issue for Linux-based hosts causing installation failure due to incorrect verification of the previously installed Virtualbox version was fixed.
- A bug leading to uncertainty regarding a wireless adapter in new Linux distributions was resolved.
- A problem resulting in incorrect time reporting in virtual machines was fixed.
- An issue with incorrect cursor display in the GUI was resolved.
- Restoration of preserved state issue in Devvirtiosscsi was fixed.
- Failure in restoring VM state when using VMSVGA graphic adapter without 3D-acceleration was fixed.
- Capacity restrictions for disk with Vboxmanage Bandwidthctl command feature was added.
- In the implementation of the NAT address translator, network connection loss issue when using Windows on host systems was resolved.
- Six problems related to guest systems with Windows supplements (such as 100% CPU loading due to VboxTray and driver installation issues) and two installer problems for Windows were also addressed.
