Scribus 1.6.4: Free Publishing Package Update

Scribus 1.6.4 has been released, presenting a free package for layout documents. This package offers tools for professional layout of printed materials, including PDF generation and support for separate color profiles, CMYK, FROMS flowers, and ICC. The program is developed using Tulkit Qt and is distributed under the GPLV2+ license. Binary assemblies are available for Linux (Appimage), MacOS, and Windows, making it easily accessible for users.

In this new version, custom font encoding is retained when inserted into PDF documents. Python functions have been added for determining page sizes, boundaries of page elements, minimum and maximum word spacing, and blocked layers. Issues with PDF import and export have been fixed, along with compilation problems when using new versions of the poppler library.

Additionally, development on the experimental branch Scribus 1.7 has progressed, with a focus on transitioning to QT 6. This update includes support for a dark design theme, icons in SVG format, a new implementation of fixed toolbars, and a revamped color selection panel.
