Asia-Pacific IPv6 Coverage Hits 50%

APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) announced that the Asia-Pacific region has achieved 50% IPV6 coverage, marking a significant milestone 25 years after APNIC began implementing IPV6. Comparatively, other regional registrars have reported IPV6 implementation levels as follows: Arin (North America) – 52%, Lacnic (Latin America) – 39%, Ripe (Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia) – 28%, Afrinic (Africa) – 4%.

Notable countries with high levels of IPV6 implementation include India (78.16%, 600 million users), Vietnam (60%, 54 million users), Japan (58.2%, 109 million users), and Thailand (50.62%, 45 million users). China leads in the number of IPV6 users with 810 million users. Across other regions, IPV6 implementation levels vary, with Russia at 10.63%, Georgia at 12.72%, Ukraine at 13.42%, Belarus at 14.35%, Lithuania at 16.79%, Latvia at 28.52%, Kazakhstan at 21.76%, Estonia at 47.62%, and Israel at 62.83%.

Global IPV6 user coverage is estimated at 40%, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for 64% of all IPV6 users. By comparison, Afrinic represents 0.9%, Arin 9.4%, Lacnic 10.7%, and Ripe 16% of all IPV6 users. India and China contribute significantly to the overall IPV6 user base, with respective shares of 27% and 22%.

These figures consider the number of users capable of installing IPV6 connections, but do not reflect which protocol is actively used in configurations with both IPV6 and IPV4 addresses. When considering users who prefer IPV6 in dual-stack systems, the IPV6 share in the Asia-Pacific region is 47%, and globally stands at 36%.
