GITHUB announced the implementation of a new limit on the number of repositories allowed for a single user or organization. Starting on April 28, users will be restricted to a maximum of 100 thousand repositories.
Once a user reaches 50 thousand repositories, they will be shown a warning banner and receive a notification via email. This change aims to prevent performance issues and avoid negatively impacting the platform’s infrastructure caused by accounts with an excessively large number of repositories.
If users require storage for a significant number of repositories, it is advised to divide them across multiple organizations to comply with the new restriction.
