Elementary OS 8.0.1 Released
Elementary has recently published the distribution elementary os 8.0.1, known for being a quick, open, and confidential alternative to Windows and MacOS. The project focuses on quality design, providing a simple system that consumes minimal resources and offers high launch speed. Users can enjoy a unique environment with Pantheon’s desktop. The ISO images for download, totaling 3.3 GB, are available for AMD64 architectures for free on the project’s site.
Elementary OS utilizes GTK3, VALA language, and its own Granite framework for developing its components. The distribution is based on the achievements of the Ubuntu project and is compatible with Ubuntu 24.04 at the level of packages and support in the 8.x repositories. Additional applications, both default and for installation via Appsenter, are packed in Flatpak format. The graphic environment features the Pantheon shell, which includes components like the Gala window manager, Slingshot launcher, Switchboard control panel, wing panel, dock, and pantheon Greeter session manager.
The environment offers a set of closely integrated applications tailored to solve user problems. Notable applications include the Pantheon Terminal, Pantheon Files, Code text editor, Music player (Noise), Photos (Shotwell Board) photo manager, and Mail (Evolution Boat) email client.

Main changes in Elementary OS 8.0.1:
- The dark design mode in the Appsenter installation center has been enhanced, showcasing dark colors prevalent throughout the distribution and prioritizing Pantheon in the screenshots.
