Vivaldi Unveils Stable Browser Version 7.2

On the release of the proprietary browser Vivaldi 7.2, developed based on the Chromium engine by former developers of the Opera Presto engine. Assemblies of Vivaldi prepared for Linux, Windows, and macOS. Changes made to the Chromium code base, the project spreads under an open license. The browser interface is written in JavaScript using the React library, Node.js, Browserify, and various ready-made NPM modules. The implementation of the interface is available in the original texts but under the proprietary license.

The project aims to develop a custom and functional browser that prioritizes user data privacy. Key features include a tracker and ad blocker, note managers, history and bookmarks, private browsing mode, encrypted synchronization, tab stacking mode, side panel, extensive configurator, horizontal view mode, and currently in test mode, a built-in mail client, RSS reader, and calendar functionality.

The latest version includes the following improvements:

  • The dropdown list in the address bar, which includes search queries, bookmarks, and previously entered addresses, has been completely revamped. View Image
  • Optimized domain searching process, leading to faster page loading speeds.
  • A section for workspaces has been added to the quick key settings, allowing users to assign key combinations for workspace actions.
  • A keyboard shortcut priority list in the settings, ensuring specified key combinations are prioritized over site-specific shortcuts. View Image
  • In the built-in mail client, users can now create calendar events or tasks directly from received messages. Manual sorting of mail accounts in the list is also now possible. View Image
