Jeremy Evans has recently published the release of the musical player Aqualung 2.0 . This player provides an interface for reproducing sound CDs, a local music collection, online radio stations, and podcasts. A notable feature of Aqualung is the reproduction mode without pauses, allowing for a seamless stream of music where one composition flows into another without interruption. The project code is written in SI and distributed under the GPLV2 license. It is compatible with Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Windows, and MacOS.
Aqualung 2.0 offers enhanced capabilities such as the ability to adjust the sampling frequency of a playable file before sending the sound flow to the output device. Users can also connect plugins like LADSPA to apply effects, enhance sound quality, and process sound. These plugins include equalizers, spatial sound optimizers, and lamp preamplifier simulators.
The major change in Aqualung 2.0 is the transition from using GTK2 to the GTK3 branch. The interface now involves CSS, ending support for previously prepared skins. Users can now switch between light and dark design themes within the settings. Additionally, the update provides support for new versions of the Monkey’s Audio format for lossless sound coding, along with an expanded number of formats supported in the FFMPEG-based decoder.
The main capabilities of Aqualung include:
