The Russian government plans to introduce mandatory labeling of Internet calls made through virtual automatic telephone stations (ATS), as part of the fight against fraud and improving the safety of citizens. This was reported in the apparatus of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko.
This initiative will become part of a large-scale bill aimed at counteracting telephone and Internet monk. The message emphasizes that scammers often use virtual ATS to hide their real location, since such systems allow calls from anywhere on the Internet. In addition, attackers can fake numbers, impersoning employees of banks or representatives of commercial organizations.
According to the new requirements, all the calls made through virtual PBXs will be accompanied by special designations. Officials noted that, for example, a note “virtual number” or “Internet call” may appear on the phone screen, which will allow subscribers to immediately distinguish whether they receive a call from an official institution or private person.
According to the developers of the bill, such a marking, along with other measures provided for, will increase the efficiency of law enforcement agencies in the identification and suppression of fraudulent schemes.
