Fverlase Fiverr Fightrr has introduced a new program aimed at allowing freelancers to train artificial intelligence in their work and sell access to trained models. This initiative is designed to attract specialists to the platform and provide generative tools.
fiverr states that this decision will enable authors to “receive well-deserved recognition and reward” while also “scaling their work.” However, the situation for freelancers remains uncertain as generative AI continues to transform the market, reducing the demand for many specialists, particularly copywriters, programmers, and designers. This trend of replacing traditional professions with artificial intelligence is only gaining momentum.
In 2022, many experts opted for freelancing, but by 2023, they encountered the increasing prevalence of generative AI, notably ChatGPT. A study revealed that following the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, the income of freelancers engaged in tasks most susceptible to AI automation declined by over 5% by April 2023.
To help freelancers maintain their competitive edge, Fiverr is offering them a “Personal AI-Model” service. This service allows experts to upload their work, such as graphics, text, and code, to train a model and sell access to the results. Freelancers will retain the rights to the materials created, but a fee of $25 per month will be charged for using the model.
Clients will have the option to either commission regular work from a freelancer, utilize a trained AI model, or even combine both approaches. The author also has the ability to refine the generated content.
Fiverr has introduced generative functions based on AI under the new brand Fiverr Go. Another new feature is the “Personal Ai Assistant” that can analyze freelancer profiles for $29 per month, interact with clients, and provide business advice. While Fiverr assures that authors will maintain oversight of the models, the exact transparency of the system remains unclear.
Furthermore, the company has announced a program for distributing shares to top freelancers. However, details regarding who will receive shares, in what quantities, and under what conditions are still undisclosed.
Despite the promises made by Fiverr, freelancers may find themselves in a challenging position. Those who reject the use of AI risk falling behind in the competitive landscape. On the other hand, embracing these new conditions may lead to clients preferring the cost-effective efficiency of machines over the manual work of freelancers.
