The eighth CTF Cup in CTF, one of the largest cybersecurity competitions, will be held from October 26 to December 15, 2024, as announced by organizers at TASS.
CTF, short for “capture the flag,” features team competitions where participants must solve various cybersecurity tasks to find the “flag,” which acts as the key to advancing to the next stages. During the VIII CTF of Russia, teams will be tasked with identifying and fixing vulnerabilities on their own servers while ensuring service performance, as well as using their skills to launch attacks on opponents’ servers.
The Cup consists of three categories: school, academic, and mixed, allowing teams from educational institutions at various levels to participate, from secondary schools to universities. Participants must be students or schoolchildren aged 14 to 27, with only one team allowed per institution in the semifinals.
The online qualifying stage is set for October 26 and 27, with the semifinals and final taking place in person on December 14. After the qualifying stage, 30 teams, 10 from each category, will progress to the semifinals. Winners will be rewarded with cups and cash prizes. Participation in the Cup is free, and there are no restrictions on the number of teams during the selection stage.
