LG Releases WebOS Open Source Edition 2.27

The latest release of the open platform Webos Open Source Edition 2.27 was presented, offering compatibility with various portable devices, boards, and automobile information and entertainment systems. Raspberry Pi 4 serves as a reference hardware platform for this version. The platform is developed in a public repository under the Apache 2.0 license, with community-driven development management following a joint model.

The key updates in this edition include:

  • Updates to the browser engine with the move to Chromium 120, enhancing functionality and flexibility for the ENACT browser application.
  • Improved support for Progressive Web Applications (PWA) with added navigation options, improved scrolling, and push notification capabilities.
  • Streamlined assembly process efficiency with changes in file extensions for emulator launch.
  • Enhancements in the reproduction management interface API, including the addition of a method to set supported actions.
  • Decoupling of the system service luna-syservice from Qt.
  • Upgrade of the QT framework to version 6.7.2.
